GSBTB Open Art Shelter hosts its Women and Kids Gathering

Our Open Art Shelter hosted a fun-filled day for women and children atop the Refugio roof. The sun was shining, the children were running around excited and the women lounged around on the comfy chairs, mingling and laughing.

There was a Bollywood dance performance by our resident professional which left everyone stunned.

For the activities, the Open Art Shelter had planned a flea market where attendees could either swap old clothes for new ones, donate their own unused things or just take whatever they took a liking to.

There was a face-painting station which was naturally popular with the kids.

There was even an art station where attendees could “adopt” artworks by modifying, changing or adding on to unfinished paintings that had been left behind!

Last but not least, a volunteer from Pakistan was showcasing her incredible expertise with henna – she was quite in demand until the very end!

All in all, it was a great day and everyone left with a smile on their faces. Thanks to all our volunteers who helped set up and clean up afterwards, and to the amazing ladies who donated their time and talents – especially the Afghani, Pakistani and  Iraqi women who cooked up a wonderful feast for us!
