Sharing, caring and doing things for as well as together with other people is the base of our human existence – as well as that of any well-functioning society, community and relationship. It makes us, and the people we meet with, grow in different ways. This is what volunteering is all about – a powerful experience, but one that comes with significant emotional challenges.
As a volunteer you might soon realise that you’re learning as much about yourself as you are about others and the world around you. Once you start, you may suddenly feel overwhelmed, anxious or incompetent. But don’t worry! These feelings are all too normal, and something each one of us has inevitably gone through.
To work through some of these challenges GSBTB has initiated a series of workshops to make you feel stronger, more confident and more aware about why you do what you do.
Some of the themes of these professional workshops will be: art and creativity as a form communication and therapy, dealing with trauma, exploring healthy ways to cope with the often demanding environment, and volunteer teacher training prospects for different GSBTB projects.
More workshops will be added soon – so keep your eyes peeled on our Facebook page as well as on our events page where we will be posting all of them. We hope you will join us on this exciting path to more conscious volunteering and creating a more empathetic community.
All workshops will take place at the GSBTB office at Refugio at Lenaustrasse 4. To sign up, send an email to: firstname.lastname@example.org
The workshops will be held by Hania Hakiel, who is heading our GSBTB Open Art Shelter and is a trained psychologist and psychotherapist.
