Open Hearts Space community looks for a new volunteer

We are looking for a person who can establish a relationship with an eight-year-old boy from Syria, a huge fan of dogs (both small and big ones).

The boy is saddened for not being able to own a pet himself. We promised him that we would try to find someone who could introduce their own dog. We look for someone who can go for walks together with the boy, explore different Berlin parks, and just hang out together.

If you want to get involved, please keep in mind that at least 6 months of commitment is needed. The meetings will take place regularly – ideally once a week for 3 hours, including picking up and taking the boy back home. The ability to easily communicate in German is another necessity. This does not mean that we require any certificates. It means that you are able to maintain conversations in German, provide emotional support when necessary, and that you can easily find words to answer the question: “Warum haben Hunde nasse Nasen?” 🙂

From our side, we offer preparation, regular support, and monthly group supervision, and of course, being part of our community ❤️

You can contact Antonina Stasiuk for more details and expressing interest: antonina.stasiuk@gsbtb.org

Please note that this is an unpaid and volunteer position.
