    Call for Online Magazine contributions

We look for short stories, opinion pieces, personal memories, essays, news on LGBTQI+ and Black History

Give Something Back to Berlin is an association that connects migrants, refugees, and locals to engage in building an open and inclusive society. We create spaces where everyone feels welcomed, respected, and valued and we want to give voice to our community to share stories. We see our Online Magazine, in which we publish news from our diverse community and team, as one of those spaces where everyone can express their own perspective and we invite you, the members of our community, to contribute to it.

As LGBT and Black History is celebrated in February. We want to use this occasion to celebrate further and shed light upon the histories, struggles, and achievements of LGBTQI+ and Black people worldwide, and more specifically throughout our community. We believe that their stories should be told all year long. We extend our call to our community and beyond to send us stories, articles, opinions for our Online Magazine on the topic of LGBTQI+ and Black History.

We invite you to share a personal story or an everyday life experience such as looking for a flat or a job, interacting with strangers or authorities, experiences made at school or work… Or to start a conversation on a topic close to your heart or tell us the story of others who inspired you.

You can contact us via comms@gsbtb.org and tell us in a few sentences what you will write about and when you can send the final piece. We will get back to you quickly.

Your final piece that will be published in the Online Magazine should not be longer than 1.600 words.

Shall you need some inspiration, take a moment to read Lucie Wirz’s short essay on LGBT and Black History Month.

We are looking forward to reading you!
