Wolfgang Tillmans exhibition with Syrian art guides

Iconic German photographer Wolfgang Tillmans has dedicated his Berlin project space, Between Bridges, to addressing the refugee situation in Europe.

We were fortunate to attend the opening of its first exhibiton of refugee work together with our friends from Multaka, the organisation which has got newly-arrived Arabic-speaking Berliners giving guided tours through their culture’s historical artefacts in museums like the Pergamon.

One of Multaka’s guides Bachar (pictured with GSBTB founder Annamaria) formerly ran a museum back in Syria, and has become a regular at our community team up events and also the GSBTB Open Art Shelter.

And what goes around comes around – when some of the GSBTB core team goes to Azerbadjian next week we are invited to meet his family in Baku! We are so happy for this and Bachar’s great success with Multaka. Keep it up!

If you are an Arabic speaker wanting to discover Berlins museums, don’t hesitate to check out their tours.
